Re: Google To “Out Open” Facebook On November 5

Yea... I think getting in on 'big' things early is something we have to keep our eye out for. Lots of people were able to take advantage of Facebook before they realized they were too open with the invites etc.

Note: Myspace, Hi5, Orkut & Tagged all plan on opening up their platforms as a reaction (I hear this from very reliable sources)

We need to focus on them starting a forum, starting initial posts, and hopefully playing with some type of a theme selection when that is ready.

I also think having them step through changing categories etc can help.

Yea... my statement on absolute ass is a bit harsh... I tend to be black and white on things quite often.

Also interesting to see the sig used... first time I saw it... not bad at all.

Re: Getting Forum Content to the Top of the Homepage

Yea... replacing the text would be good.  I think a bit shorter and more explanatory would be good.  Like ...

"You're looking at a pretty fresh forum.  Until you upload a photo or video this will act as a placeholder.  Click "here" to upload a photo or video."

the 'here' would be a link to a start a conversation.

I understand people are used to it and thats a good point... however the 2 editors used so far just have been absolute ass.  Weird shit always happens when you press 'enter' and they always get resized weird and stuff.  So the real question is what stuff in the WSIWYG editor is crucial?  Ithink once we have that nailed down then we can figure out what thefinal solution should look like.  Here is a thread I started to get to the bottom of this.

What features are critical to the editor (wysiwyg or otherwise)

September 13, 2007 by chatham

So list them here... here is what I absolutely need in any editor

ease of use in sharing photos, links, videos.
proper carriage returns and spacing/tabs

besides that... I could care less about shit like bold, italic etc... I rarely see anyone ever using this.

Re: simple interface for showing waht kind of content you want to post

I agree... I hate this Yahoo editor even more than the previous one for some reason... I know you guys don't feel that way but thats a moot point.  The point is we should make it as slick as possible and as minimal as possible.  Things should just 'happen'.
